Wow! More Top 5 lists! Yeah, not quite actually. Next in line is Mark and unfortunately Mark doesn’t know the meaning of “A Top 5 List” it seems. So instead take a look at Mark’s Top 2 Comics, his Top 4 Movies, and his Top 1 Music…

As you probably may know Mark is another one of our webdevelopers over here. He also used to take care of the Comic Database and still jumps in every now and then to help if things tend to get difficult. Since he is obsessed with comics - he even illustrates comics himself, check it out here - let’s see what Mark has to say about his favorite comics over this year.

‘Haven’t read a lot of Marvel stuff lately, but these two stories were just great. I read some stuff in dutch translated comics that were published in The Netherlands in 2009, although the original comics were published in 2008 in the USA.

Top 2 Comics 2009

1. Nova - Secret Invasion
The new Nova run is just awesome. Abnett & Lanning bring you the greatest intergalactic stories starring Richard Rider aka Nova. Together with the Xandarian Worldmind Richard tries to help everybody he can. Now, after getting kicked by the Silver Surfer and losing the Worldmind, Richard meets the sneaky Super-Skrull Kl’rt. Together they race to earth to stop the no-longer secret invasion of the Skrulls. Including lots of action, drama and fun one-liners: Nova is just awesome.

2. X-Men Legacy - Divided We Stand
In the aftermath of Messiah Complex we follow the tragedy of mister X-Men himself: Charles Xavier. He tries to re-discover who he is and what he wants. Brubaker started writing this ‘new’ Xavier in the Deadly Genesis and Shi’ar/Vulcan stories. And now Carey takes it to another level. Great stuff!Also read some Dark Reign, Exiles and Hulk stuff. But to be honest: I wasn’t impressed…

Top 4 Movies and TV series 2009

1. Lost Season 5
Lost Season 5 was awesome. The time travel thingy was just really cool. And the ending was shocking. The Opposite-Jacob finally killed Jacob by using Locke and manipulating Ben and Richard. And will Jack, Kate, Sawyer and everybody return to 2004 and never crash at all…? Can’t wait for Season 6 - the final season.

2. Inglourious Basterds
Inglourious Basterds was really good. One of my favorite flicks ever already. At this moment I still think Inglourious Basterds is Tarantino’s best work so far. Even better than Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill Vol 2. The acting, the story, the drama, the music. It’s just a perfect movie.

3. X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
My favorite X-Men got his own movie! And it’s awesome. Hugh Jackman and Liev Schreiber both act great. The acting was really good and the connections to the many Marvel characters was also really cool (especially Deadpool and Gambit).

4. Paranormal Activity
Scary! And really great! A must-see. I guess I totally love hand-held home video camera movies.

Top 1 (…sigh…) Music 2009

The only important CD this year was Raekwon’s album ‘Only Built 4 Cuban Linx Part II’ in my opinion. The first OB4CL chapter was realesed in 1995. When Wu-Tang Clansmen Raekwon, Ghostface and mastermind producer RZA created a new mafia hiphop sound. From Jay-Z to 50 Cent: they all act like they are king of NY, the king of hiphop, but Rae, Ghost and RZA really are. That started it. Real hiphop heads waited for OB4CL Part II for years, and it was worth waiting… The album is FIRE! That’s also why Time Magazine lists OB4CL Part II in the Top 10 best albums of 2009.’
