"Godzilla: King of the Monsters" begins with an American reporter Steve Martin (Raymond Burr) laid over in Tokyo on his was to Cairo. He stops in to visit an old friend Dr. Daisuke Serizawa (Akihiko Hirata). Over the course of his visit, several sailing vessels vanish out at sea. This keeps Martin in Japan to investigate further into this mystery as he teams with policeman Tomo Iwanaga (Frank Iwanaga) and together they venture out to Odo Island. The two investigators are trapped on the island when a storm destroys their ship. They’re then met by an expedition led by a paleontologist named Doctor Kyohei Yemane (Takashi Shimura). Who has arrived on the island in search of something the inhabitants call Godzilla.
