Anna (Sandrinne Bonnaire) attends a session with a new psychoanalyst and makes some very frank confessions. Unfortunately, she has come to the wrong apartment and has made the revelations to a financial consultant, William (Fabrice Luchini). When he realises her mistake, William who has become facinated by the woman, does not tell her but encourages her to return for further sessions. In order to maintain the fiction, William consults a real analyst, Dr Monnier (Michael Duchaussoy). A relationship builds between Anna and William, and, as he points out to her when all is eventually revealed, a financial consultant is much like an analyst, he hears confessions of wrong doings and sets about to make things better for the client.
