Plot
The life of swashbuckling actor and playboy, Errol Flynn is told by narrator (Ian Holm) and surviving family members like his daughter (Deidre Flynn) and ex-wife (Patrice Wymore Flynn). Starting as a boy in Tasmania, he made his first film in 1933 as Christian in an early Bounty movie. Regular Warner Brothers costar Olivia DeHavilland tells some risqué tales about Flynn and their work together. Others like Burt Reynolds are interviewed about his behavior and philosophy. Attention is given to his profligate lifestyle and the notorious court case against him in 1942 for statutory rape, which spawned the term “in like Flynn.” Distraught at being seen as a joke, he tried other venues of creativity, dabbled in morphine, and returned to movies, playing a variation on his public image.
