Plot
Janie Barlow (Joan Crawford) loves to dance, and is currently dancing at a burlesque house in order to make money. While there, she is found by Ted Newton (Franchot Tone), a rich playboy. Ted uses his power and money to get Janie an audition in a real Broadway musical being directed by Patch Gallagher (Clark Gable). Ted finds himself falling for Janie, and thinks that she owes him a favor since he got her the audition. At the same time, Janie is falling for Patch after spending time with him during rehearsals. As Ted is planning to propose to Janie, some new troubles pop up for the three as well. Will the show go on as planned, and who will Janie end up with?
