Plot
Kandahar was originally named Safer-e Ghandehar, which means journey to Kandahar. This is a heart-breaking movie about a woman from Canada, Nafas (Nelofer Pazira), who tries to save her sister from peril under Taliban control. In the journey of getting to the city she sees great tragedies such as child grave robbers. She encounters a guide with a mysterious beard but he refuses to enter the city of Kandahar when they finally approach. She finally gets a guide and continues into the city but is delayed in the most unlikely of ways. The ending draws near and the journey to rescue her sister quickly becomes a journey to rescue herself.
