"Yesterday" is one woman’s struggle against the impossible. Yesterday (Leleti Khumalo) is a woman from a Zulu village. She has a very smart and inquisitive daughter named Beauty (Lihle Mvelase). Beauty is about to enroll in school but Yesterday is ill. What started a cough has been diagnosed as a full blown illness. To make sure someone is there to care for Beauty, Yesterday travels to the mines. This is where Yesterday’s Husband (Kenneth Khambula) works day in and day out. Women are not permitted in the mines and this causes fallout but Yesterday isn’t intimated so easily and will rest at nothing to make sure someone will there for her daughter in the end.
